Updated UBC Enrolment Definitions for International Students

If you are an international student, please be advised that you may be affected by some recent updates to UBC’s enrolment definitions for immigration purposes. Unlike undergraduate degree programs and other post-baccalaureate programs, DAP (Diploma in Accounting Program) offers courses on a year-round basis without a scheduled break. In recognition of the unique feature of the program, some changes have been made:

  • DAP students will be considered “full time” if they take at least 9 credits each term in Winter Session (Winter Term 1 or Winter Term 2), or 9 credits in the entire Summer Session (any combination of credits in summer terms). DAP students who are full time and have a valid study permit may work on campus, and up to 20 hours per week off campus.
  • Summer will not be considered a “scheduled break” for DAP students. DAP students may work on campus, and up to 20 hours per week off campus during the Summer Session, as long as they register for at least 9 credits during this session (May to August).
