UBC DAP is pleased to announce an exciting pilot project aimed at providing qualified UBC DAP students the opportunity to earn entry-level accounting work experience before completing the diploma program.

We approached a small group of employers in industry and public practice who are thrilled at the opportunity to work with UBC DAP students during the internship placement period of Tuesday, July 3 – Friday, August 24, 2018. The internship position details (weekly hours, compensation if applicable, etc.) will be posted with each job description on Wednesday, March 28th. One size doesn’t fit all, so we’ve encouraged each employer to craft positions that will work for them and their successful DAP candidate(s).

Important Dates

• Wednesday, March 28th: Internship positions will be posted on COOL by 4pm
• Friday, April 13th: Application deadline for all internship positions
• July 3 – August 24, 2018: Suggested internship placement period

Applicant Criteria

After consultation with employers, applicants must meet the following criteria:

• Enrolled in the UBC Diploma in Accounting Program (diploma option)
• Completed the first five Foundation Level courses as outlined in the UBC DAP curriculum
• Achieved an overall average of 76% in DAP courses completed to date
• Grades from Winter Term 2 (January 2018) will be counted towards the 76% overall average. Given students won’t know their final grades before the application deadline, students who expect to meet the 76% average (including courses taken this semester) are encouraged to apply. Offers will be conditional upon satisfactory completion of these requirements.
• Applicants must be eligible to work up to 40 hours a week (off-campus)
